Job DescriptionThe Emergency Management Intergovernmental Relations Liaison is integral to the emergency services function of the City of Merritt, supporting the collaboration between the City, Thompson Nicola Regional District, emergency services, and the Indigenous communities of the Nicola Valley.This role involves Indigenous community outreach, emergency services planning and implementation, relationship building, and the facilitation of learning opportunities to promote collaboration of emergency services to strengthen and support our communities.The incumbent will utilize their research and communication skills to prepare vital emergency preparedness plans and documentation.The Emergency Management Intergovernmental Relations Liaison is a rewarding position focused on building and fostering Indigenous community partnerships in order to advance shared objectives within the emergency services sector. The ideal candidate is culturally aware, knowledgeable about First Nations’ history and rights in Canada, and supportive in communication and growth in advancing the City of Merritt’s commitment to reconciliation.
