Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. Should you require any support or accommodation during the recruitment process or otherwise, please notify us when you apply and we will work to meet your accessibility needs.SUPERINTENDENT, SECURITYThe Superintendent, Security will lead a multi-disciplinary team focused on delivering a safe and secure environment at Côté Gold. The incumbent will oversee all security activities including threat and vulnerability assessments, onsite investigations, video surveillance, access control and other general safety and security matters. The candidate will promote and respect IAMGOLD’s Culture, Health and Safety Code of Conduct, and the Environment.Key ResponsibilitiesArea 1:Develop and provide leadership to the team.

  • Actively engage in recruiting and developing a diverse team of security professionals in accordance with the organizational design strategy.
  • Build and lead a dynamic team focused planning, data analytics, effective communication and continuous improvement.
  • Create space for your team to be effective in delivering results and foster an inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure current and future training requirements are met and develop clear progression paths for the team.
  • Mentor and coach team members to impart best practices in all security activities.
  • Promote a high-performance culture by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching.
  • Effectively manage the performance and employment relationship with third party workers.
Area 2:Develop and maintain the security management system.
  • Lead the development and implementation of organizational strategies regarding gold security; including but not limited to, gold circuit, control center, surveillance, alarm monitoring system, intrusion detection etc.
  • Lead the organization through extensive vulnerability and risk assessments considering theft, external threats, internal threats, workplace violence, security incidents etc.
  • Develop formal documented processes including gold circuit, site security and emergency response procedures.
  • Develop a comprehensive budget to integrate with the business planning process.
  • Ensure security infrastructure is appropriate to the level of threats identified.
  • Provide input into the installation of the security infrastructure.
  • Manage all technological security solutions in respect to physical security resources.
  • Develop budgets for security operations and monitor general, operational, and capital expenses.
  • Manage information collection related to gold security issues.
  • Oversee security requirements for development and expansion projects.
  • Provide regular security updates and briefings to site management.
  • Develop, monitor and manage scopes of work and contracts with third party service and system providers.
  • Support operational functionality of all technological security solutions including but not limited to the following:
  • Surveillance video management systems.
  • Electronic access control systems.
  • Alarm intrusion and detection systems.
  • Electronic information management systems.
  • Guard tour management systems.
  • Maintain and backup all ancillary software databases and hardware platforms.
  • Maintain all software and hardware licenses.
  • Manage technical, physical and personnel elements associated with Security Operations Centre.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security related operational disaster/recovery and business continuity procedures.
Area 3:Support the development and maintenance of the Emergency Response Management System.
  • Develop and maintain an emergency response risk assessment that will become the basis for the emergency response program and plan development.
  • Liaise with external parties to develop mutual aid agreements in case of emergency, i.e., local fire and ambulance services, hospital, rescue agencies etc.
  • Creation of formal documented processes to respond to various emergencies including notification, response and debriefing processes.
  • Procure and develop maintenance strategies for key response gear, i.e., fire truck, ambulance, self-contained breathing apparatus, gas detection equipment and maintenance, extraction tools etc.
  • Oversee the recruitment of the emergency response team.
  • Ensure security infrastructure is appropriate to the level of threats identified.
  • Provide input into the installation of the security infrastructure.
  • Development of the annual emergency response budget.
Area 4:Lead others in a collaborative environment to deliver innovative continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Seek and implement best-in-class practices.
  • Propose new methods to meet challenges of create a secure site.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for the team.
  • Keep abreast of trends in security and impart to Côté Gold.
  • Provide new approaches, methods or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.
  • Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking to support decision-making and improve security processes, technologies and methodologies used for Côté Gold.
Qualifications*Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves*minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a security related field is considered an asset.
  • Security designation is considered an asset.
Work experience - Nature & Length
  • Minimum of 10 years of industrial security or infrastructure protection experience.
  • Experience in gold mining security is considered an asset.
Additional qualifications - Competency requirements
  • Experience executing security programs and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management techniques.
  • Business continuity and crisis management.
  • English spoken and written (French is an asset).
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds and locations (national and expatriate workers).
