Job Description

We are looking for skilled painters; preferably with shipyard experience but will consider all applicants.Apply in person at 1DEntremont Road, Meteghan River NS(902-645-2327)Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine physical labour; moving materials, tools, and or equipment;
  • Operate painting equipment such as sprayers, etc.
  • Operating various types of tools such as pneumatic, electric, and hand;
  • Perform industrial painting on boats, ships, various parts, etc.
  • Brush roll and hand brush painting;
  • May serve as trades helpers;
  • Operate as fire watch for hot work or confined space work;
  • Will be exposed to environmental elements as work is conducted inside and outside throughout the year
  • Other duties as instructed by his/her Supervisor and/or Senior Management.
Requirements
  • Previous shipyard/marine experience is preferred;
  • Applicants must be safety conscious;
  • Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts, marine slips, and gangways (onboard ships);
  • Willing to work overtime & weekends as needed to complete projects or meet deadlines;
  • Possess the ability to work well both with a team or unsupervised;
  • Applicant must provide Steel Toe boots, all other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for this position is provided;
  • Ability to work 8-5 Monday to Friday for a total of 42.5 hours per week; and
  • High School English OR Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs) 4; and
  • No formal education required.
