Where else will you get to create a personal wellness plan as part of your performance goalsPosition SummaryThis position is primarily responsible constructing analysis frameworks and planning as part of a team, conducting analysis, report writing and knowledge exchange on large data sets housed by FNHA. This position ensures that data analysis and research activities carried out comply with FNHA’s priorities, standards, and best practices. Additionally, as part of a multidisciplinary team, this position actively engages in the implementation of the Regional Health Survey as needed.As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.Responsibilities

  • Conducts data analysis, prepares summaries, visuals, major reports, and discussion papers concerning the Regional Health Survey (RHS), the First Nations Early Childhood Education and Employment Survey (FNREEES) and other data banks
  • Prepares analysis plans and frameworks as directed by the manager, supported by a multidisciplinary team
  • Collaborates with Community Leads, field workers and regional staff to obtain and provide necessary information around major research, data sets and data governance related issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Communicates with communities and Nations post data collection to ensure appropriate and useful information is made available for multi-level policy, planning and program development
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary project teams/working groups, duly called meetings with provincial and regional teams, participates in training activities, and liaises with various regional offices and departments
  • Promotes Indigenous research methods and aligns with province wide research, knowledge exchange and evaluation teams and staff
  • Identifies, analyzes and provides recommendations on research challenges and opportunities concerning FN communities/Nations/Region
  • Links with province wide research, knowledge exchange and evaluation teams and staff concerning research resources to utilize at the regional level for community and Nation purposes, polices and processes
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
QualificationsEducation
  • A University Degree with an acceptable specialization in one or more of the following areas: biostatistics, epidemiology, mathematics or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience
  • An understanding and/or completion of courses in advanced statistics, and/or biostatistics, public-health analysis and/or evidence-based methods
  • Preferred successful completion of a post-secondary education or specialized program with a First Nations focus
Experience
  • Relevant, recent and significant experience in data collection, data analysis and presentation of data to a wide variety of audiences (normally acquired over a period of 3-5 years)
  • Experience working statistical software SPSS a must
  • with BC First Nations communities and/or organizations
  • Experience in developing proposals and briefing packages
  • Experience utilizing a variety of office tools including Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information and matters in a trusted and responsible manner
  • Experience developing and maintaining administrative systems, processes, and procedures
  • Experience with Indigenous research methods is an asset
  • State the total years of experience to successfully perform in the role
  • Include specific area of experience required for the role
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Advanced knowledge of the concepts, theories, and principles of statistics (quantitative and qualitative analysis), bio-statistics and epidemiology is required to: plan, design and conduct epidemiological, bio-statistical and statistical analyses and surveys+
  • Knowledge of statistical software SPSS, STATA, SAS or R a must
  • Knowledge of the FNHA, and its structure and inter-dependencies
  • Knowledge of data collection, research and analysis methods and approaches
  • Knowledge of research approaches reflective of Indigenous epistemologies
