Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Account Payable Clerk plays a key role to participate in the execution of accurate and timely financial transactions, activities and reporting all in accordance with the Mission, Philosophy, Policies, Goals and Objectives of the Atlantic Baptist Senior Citizens Home Inc.Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in Office Administration or Business Administration
  • 3+ years relevant experience in accounts payable processing
  • Knowledge of HST related legislative requirements
  • Experience working with intercompany transactions would be considered an asset
  • High attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience working with AccPac/Sage accounting software and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:As Related to the Finance Department:
  • Sort, match, review and enter invoices in the system for payment
  • Prepare and process weekly cheque runs and electronic payments
  • Maintain an organized filing system for all appropriate documents
  • Respond to supplier inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Keep others in the department informed of potential accounting and billing issues
  • Complete vendor reconciliations
  • Collaborate on the continuous improvement of the accounts payable function and contribute to the implementation of more efficient working methods
  • All other related tasks as assigned, including vendor master maintenance, awareness of current HST rules, any special exemptions, etc.
As Related to the Board of Directors:
  • Prepare regular and special reports as required at the request of senior management.
As Related to Public Relations:
  • Maintain good public relations with the staff, the residents, the residents’ families and the community.
As Related to Health & Safety:
  • Observe and practice safe work habits
  • Has made a commitment to Health and Safety and is committed to doing his/her part in keeping their workplace safe and to safeguarding their fellow employees by:
(a) Observing all rules related to safety(b) Using equipment as directed in a safe manner(c) Reporting any safety hazard immediately to their supervisor(d) Taking part in all Safety Programs provided and performs duties as assigned (ie. Emergency Preparedness, WHMIS, Back in Form and Infection Control).As Related to Resident Safety:
  • Has a strong commitment to providing a healthy, safe and caring environment for all staff, residents and tenants.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined for The Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home Inc., the Accounts Payable Clerk assumes additional responsibilities relating to the financial functions of the companies within the Atlantic Baptist Senior Citizens’ Homes Inc. as required.These job duties are only the basis and prime duties of the job; related and allied duties will be assigned from time to time as may become necessary to the operation of the organization.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $40,000.00-$43,000.00 per yearBenefits:
