The John Howard Society of Southeastern New Brunswick is adding to its affordable housing support staff. We are looking for a Housing Case Manager to work as a part of a team providing high quality case management services to individuals living in supportive housing. Reporting directly to the Affordable Housing Manager, the Housing Case Manager will be the main point of contact for tenants to learn how to navigate services that will support successful tenancy.The Housing Case Manager will be expected to work collaboratively with tenants, housing staff at Flanders Court and Joyce Avenue facilities, and other stakeholders to:Actively engage individuals in the community setting, support tenants to understand and fulfill tenant rights and responsibilities, develop and implement person centered action plans, in collaboration with the individual including regular updates, develop and maintain positive relationships and healthy boundaries with tenants, ensure that individuals are linked to health and addiction and mental health services when needed, assist individuals with obtaining employment, and/or establishing benefits, and/or educational opportunities, provide ongoing case management services that will ensure successful permanent housing, decrease social isolation, and deeper community connections, maintain a network of community partners and up to date resources to share with tenants, maintain case notes and other documentation in tenant case files, contribute to statistics for monthly reports; and other duties that might be required as part of the John Howard SENB team.Qualifications· University degree or college diploma in Social Science or in Family or Human Services or combination of experience and training considered.· Experience with and/or lived-experience with marginalized populations with the ability to empathize with a wide variety of challenging experiences in a caring, non-judgmental manner· Knowledgeable in motivational interviewing skills and trauma informed care models· Bilingual in French and English is an asset· Excellent interpersonal/communication/listening skills with motivational interviewing skills· A car and valid drivers license is required. The successful candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid drivers license upon being hired.· All successful candidates will undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance· Basic CPR/First Aid/ ASIST are assetsThe Housing Case Manager must demonstrate understanding of and respect for the roots of the issues that may be presented by tenants, including physical and mental health concerns, addictions issues, tenant disputes, problems with managing finances, motivation to follow personal goal plans, maintenance of units, and the potential for interaction with emergency services.
