Job TitleAIP and Settlement Support WorkerRate of Pay/Contract$22.00LanguagesBilingual, French/English, Additional Languages an assetLast Revision DateOctober 6th, 2022MAGMAThe Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area is a settlement agency that supports immigrants as they arrive, plant roots, and build a new home in New Brunswick’s largest and fastest growing city. Just like the cultural landscape of the Greater Moncton Area, MAGMA is an organization that is continuously growing, changing, and evolving!Role Overview This role supports both the Intake department (supporting non refugee clients) as well as the Settlement Department in supporting newcomer refugee clients.Core Position Responsibilities AIP-IntakeThe Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers and international graduates from a recognized post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada who want to work and live In New Brunswick. The program helps New Brunswick employers hire qualified candidates for jobs they haven’t been able to fill locally.

  • Help coordinate and organize interviews and meeting for Atlantic Immigration Project clients
  • Client support in understanding the requirements of AIP and provide guidance on next steps
  • Collaborate with the intake team on follow ups with clients as well as any data entry or reporting requirements
Core Position Responsibilities -Settlement
  • Works in tandem with Settlement Counsellors to assess client needs and resources.
  • Provides support to the Settlement Team as needed
  • Identifies community resources to facilitate newcomer integration.
  • Represents the organization in the community when required and maintains healthy relationships with other helping organizations and the community at large.
  • Completes reports and attends meetings as required by MAGMA.

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Fluency in both English and French both written and oral
  • Be a team player and willing to help when asked and feasible
  • Be flexible and able to respond to requests on short notice
  • Be a great multitasker and able to adapt to changing situations quickly
  • Have an excellent knowledge and working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel

Core Staff DutiesThe following core responsibilities are required of all MAGMA staff:
  • Event Participation: As a multicultural association which networks extensively with other organizations as well as hosting a wide variety of events, MAGMA staff are asked to be flexible in arranging to take part as these events usually take place outside of regular working hours. While each staff’s role may involve specific activities, in general the staff are required to attend core events including the Annual General Meeting and the Mosaïq Multicultural Festival. Time spent at these events are taken in lieu, as arranged with the department manager.
  • Administration: As a government-funded organization we are required to report in detail on our activities. Staff are therefore required to submit a variety of regular reports on the fulfilment of their role requirements.
