Job Description

ABOUT US: Tire Shack Brewing Co is an award-winning craft brewery located in Moncton, NB the hub city of the Maritimes. Moncton is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada and still one of the most affordable. What we love most is that you are 25 minutes away from the ocean, 45 minutes away from the world-famous Fundy National Park, and under 2 hours away from Prince Edward Island, Halifax, Saint Andrews and Saint John. If you love nature but want to live in the city, Moncton is the right fit for you!Tire Shack is expanding into a brand-new space adjacent to our current brewery, which will double our brewing capacity! We will also be adding a barrel-aging program, a new canning machine as well as a beautiful event space and four-season glass enclosed rooftop patio. Construction has begun, and we are looking for an additional brewer to join our team now so that they can hit the ground running when the expansion opens. You will be sharing responsibilities with our current brewer who has won multiple brewing awards, has an education from Niagara Brewing College and expansive experience brewing in Ontario. Our current brewer has been with us since we opened and although we would clone him if we could, we are in need of a second full time brewer.We currently operate on a 15HL brewing system in an open concept 4,400 sq ft space located in what was once an abandoned auto-garage. We opened in 2019 after a massive renovation to the existing auto-garage (FUN FACT: The old garage was actually called the Tire Shack and it had been in existence since 1977). We brew a wide variety of beer and aim to change your perception of what beer can be. We have won multiple beer and business awards (Gold-Canadian Brewing Awards 2020, 2022) (Gold US Open Brewing Awards 2020, 2021) (Chamber of Commerce Best Business in Moncton winner) (Winner Top 50 CEO’s in Atlantic Canada). We are looking for a brewer who shares our passion for beer and who likes to brew with creativity and is comfortable with recipe design and turning ideas into beer. We aim to create a variety of innovative brews with a constant rotation of products with a focus on heavily dry-hopped beers, IPA’s, sours, mixed-fermentation and barrel aged beers.QUALIFICATIONS: -A formal brewing education from a credited brewing program. Combination of education and/or comparable brewing experience will also be considered.-Demonstrated passion and advanced knowledge of beer.-Strong technical knowledge of all aspects of the brewing process.-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.RESPONSIBILITIES: -Prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends if necessary.-Recipe formulation and curating ingredient lists.-Creating brew schedule and regularly updating brew logs.-Brewhouse operations: milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, whirlpool, knockout, grain-out, and brewhouse CIP.-Cellaring: CIP and sanitation, keg cleaning and CIP, fermentation monitoring, dry-hopping procedures, yeast management, record keeping, oxygen-free beer transfers, carbonation.-Packaging: kegging, canning and small batch bottling.-Quality assurance: process sampling and logging, forced diacetyl, alcohol measurement, CO2 measurements, tasting sessions etc...-Complete documentation and traceability paperwork.-Perform general cleaning tasks.-Maintain equipment: including steam production system, glycol chiller system, draught system and troubleshoot any problems.-Follow all safety procedures and coordinate with company OHS to ensure safe working environment.-Appear at and/or participate in promotional/industry events.-Able to safely handle all raw materials, packaged product, chemicals.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: -Ability to lift 55lbs with regularity.-Standing for long periods of time in a warehouse environment.ADDITIONAL SKILLS: -Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.-Experience in yeast handling.-Forklift Operation.-Impeccable cleaning and sanitizing abilities.-Science/Lab background.-Mechanical ability.-Barrel/Wild/Mixed fermentation experience a huge asset along with a competency using fruit, spices, barrels, brettanomyces, lactobacillus and other adjuncts to create desired flavour profiles.-Familiarity with bottling equipment and canning lines.This position is full time and salaried.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: From $50,000.00 per yearAdditional pay:
