OverviewThe Bridge Program is a pilot program which is a continued initiative designed as a skills-based training for newcomer youths (16-21), during which intensive language and workplace skills training will be delivered to meet learners’ needs. This continuum will be finalized with a language and culture-scaffolded workplace experience. Students will access pre-employment and language training combined with digital literacy and experiential learning. This position is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of workplace essentials and workplace language training to support clients. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to creating career pathways and better integration of newcomer youths in our province.The Workplace Learning Facilitator in collaboration with the Bridge Program Coordinator within the School Districts- will work with newcomer youths to identify their current and future work goals, transferrable skills, and career pathways. This position will focus on instructing afternoon classes around cultural awareness and specific sector language that will help the advancement needed for newcomer youth to transition, adapt, and thrive in the workforce. The facilitator focuses on essential workplace skills, career-focused language skills development and wellness activities, using authentic workplace materials and customized curriculum to meet the learning needs identified through learner assessments. This is a term position from November 2022 to March 2024 and will work closely with the program’s provincial lead at NBMC while reporting to MAGMA’S Community Connections Manager.Responsibilities
