Job Description

Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedSummary:MacDonald Paving and Construction is part of Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. MacDonald Paving and Construction provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, road and structure rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate- based materials, highway operations and maintenance services.As a Grade Foreperson, You Will:

  • Direct the activities and performance of the crew and subcontractors
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the Grading Crew
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure quality meets specifications
  • Review work in progress and adjust schedules accordingly
  • Track quantities and production
  • Deal with clients in a professional and productive manner
  • Be flexible with work assignments and resources such as equipment, labour and materials
  • Conduct safety talks with staff to review policies and practices
  • Ensure safety practices are followed by the crew
  • Review completed work; ensure appropriate documentation is completed
What Youll Bring:
  • Ability to read grading plans would be considered an asset
  • Mechanical abilities an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in grading operations
  • Ability to manage large gravel contracts with 8000 ton daily productions
  • Knowledge of all grading equipment, grading process and industry requirements
  • Strong leadership and experience in the supervision of staff
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license with driver’s abstract meeting Miller’s expectations
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced and demanding environment in a safe and effective manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others; team player who is willing to help in all areas
  • Much have high attention to detail and the ability to think critically
  • Outdoor work in the elements; availability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays as required
  • Travel in Atlantic Canada is required
