Wherever there is a need for motive power, EnerSys offers the perfect energy solution.Job PurposeThe Line Technician is responsible for the placement of aerial fiber cable and all facets of outside plant construction. The line tech places aerial strand and cable by climbing poles, using ladders, and operating bucket or line trucks. The tech may also place buried cable or run drops as required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties pertaining to telecommunication line placement and construction
  • Safely operate and maintain aerial bucket/line trucks, reel trailers, lashers and associated eqpt
  • Install hardware, strand, anchors, down guys, overhead guys, etc.
  • Install fiber and coax cables from pole to pole, manholes, into buildings, etc.
  • Follow all safety requirements and actively promote safe practices within the crew
  • Perform construction duties while on a ladder
  • Climb poles at different heights in order to perform construction duties
  • Respond to corrective network problems, performing effective and efficient problem analysis, rapid troubleshooting diagnosis and prompt repair of cable/hardware/equipment to ensure service restoral objectives are met
  • Accurately prepare and complete concise reports relating to repair data: network location(s), materials used, time, etc.
Qualifications
  • Gr.12 High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in CATV/fiber telecom industry preferred
  • Excellent English speaking/communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient computer skills (specifically MS Outlook; Word, Excel preferred as well)
  • Ability to work at heights over 30ft
  • Ability to lift equipment/ladders up to 75lbs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid Driver’s License – Class 5 with Air Brakes certification or Class 3
  • Incumbent must obtain a Criminal Record Check and Drivers Abstract on regular intervals upon starting and during employment
  • Applicant must be in good, physical condition
  • Ability to work standing and overhead for extended periods
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
