Job Description

OrganigramWe are currently seeking candidates for the position of Maintenance/Facilities Technician.Reporting to the Supervisor, the Maintenance/Facilities Technician is a general laborer with relevant and applicable experience in overall building maintenance, both interior and exterior. This position will appeal to an individual who enjoys performing routine and preventative maintenance. The successful candidate will be able to address and solve maintenance issues on various types of equipment ranging from facility fixtures such as doors to painting and providing support to trades working on equipment.Please note, that the Maintenance / Facilities Technician role involves performing strenuous physical labour including lifting heavy objects, walking and standing for longer periods of time.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in construction tasks;
  • Bolt, screw, clip, weld, solder or otherwise fasten parts and components together using hand and power tools and equipment;
  • Connect cables, tubes and wires to complete assemblies and installations;
  • Position and install parts, sub-assemblies and accessories using hand and power tools and other aids like overhead hoists;
  • Mark, record and report defects;
  • Clean and perform preparation of worksite;
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment and materials;
  • Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment and tools;
  • Grind, scrape, sand or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines;
  • Load, unload and identify building materials, machinery and tools and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications;
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent;
  • 1-3 years of experience in a facility/construction environment;
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures;
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Critical eye for identifying defects;
  • Commitment to quality and safety;
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and tools required in various work assembly processes;
  • Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment required for a job;
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedules;
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for longer period of time and perform strenuous physical labor.
