  • Responsible for ensuring an appropriate level of depth and competency using levers (hiring, developing, coaching and motivating employees) to ensure balanced and profitable growth.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the marketing and delivery of the financing and consulting offerings while maintaining accountability for the operations, quality and profitability of those offerings.
  • Be the change agent in the dissemination of information to ensure all employees are aware of operational changes, business rules, policies and procedures, BDCs mandate and objectives.
  • Develop and implement a branch sales/marketing plan to support the growth strategy of the financing and consulting portfolio for the territory that is aligned with the regional strategy and manage sales activity.
Results, Sales and Relationships
  • Manage existing client relationships by actively monitoring the profitability of BDCs client relationship and proactively assessing client needs to identify opportunities and convert them into results while meeting the clients immediate and broader business objectives.
  • Actively plan and develop client acquisition strategies that lead to results and manage key business relationships to ensure a steady flow of business.
  • Keep abreast of local business opportunities while maintaining an active profile in the business community by participating in associations such as Chambers of Commerce, etc.
  • Manage branch operations through the team to meet/exceed results by regularly evaluating loan and portfolio quality/quantity, pipeline progress, product results, business mix and customer satisfaction.
Transactions, Portfolio, Risk and Profitability
  • Responsible for compliance with company rules, policies and procedures in all aspects of loan life (business development, underwriting, security and disbursement, administration and relationships).
  • Authorize, deny or recommend loan applications, administration and disbursements within established parameters and ensure a high level of credit analysis and due diligence for all transactions with a focus on credit risk, profitability and quality.
  • Proactively manage high risk customers and communicate with internal partners to restructure transactions, remediate risks and minimize losses.
  • Responsible for the business units P&L, portfolio growth, efficiency, risk level and pricing of transactions, and the difference between predictive models (risk rating, expected loss rate) and actual performance (which represents good judgment).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelors degree in Commerce or Business Administration
  • Experience leading a team at BDC or at a previous employer
  • Demonstrated strength in business development and customer relationship management
  • Leadership and ability to manage a team
  • Thorough knowledge of BDC products, services, policies, processes and procedures and ability to provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers
  • Good credit judgment and understanding of credit policies and practices
  • Ability to actively address situations where potential risks are identified
  • Ability to maintain sound account management practices and a profitable loan portfolio
  • Good time management and prioritization skills to meet critical deadlines
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics of the small business environment
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required
