Job DescriptionYorkville University has an opening for a Program Advisor in the Registrar’s Office.The Program Advisor’s primary purpose is to foster student success measured by timely program completion and/or continuing enrolment in university programs. The program advisor administers a calendar of customer service activities including: following up with students at-risk of departure, managing term registration follow-up and calling withdrawn students and students on leave of absence to encourage re-entry. Working as part of program teams, this position is also responsible for proactively linking students with a variety of services and support mechanisms, namely academic, financial services, IT support and tutoring.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Responsible for following-up with term registrations to ensure students are following their plan of study- Works with Registrar’s Office, Student Finance and Dean/Chair to ensure that student registration issues are resolved within the established timelines.- Administers program-based re-entry program (includes LOAs and Withdraws)- Administers student withdrawal and LOA protocol- Responsible for interacting with students based on indications they may be at risk of departure:- Attendance tracking (login activity)- At-risk reports from faculty- Grade reports- Connects students with appropriate support service: academic, financial services, IT support, tutoring services, continuing studies- Following-up with students to make sure the appropriate services were provided.- Assists with reporting related to student retention and persistenceEducation and Experience- An undergraduate degree in related area required.- 2-3 years student services and/or customer service experience.- Previous experience working in an educational setting is preferred.- Understanding of the online education environment.Skills and Abilities- Passion for delivering excellent customer service with a commitment to student satisfaction and success.- A sound understanding of the programs and courses offered.- Collaborative and collegial; able to accomplish goals by working with others.- Understands well the support systems that exist in institutions of higher learning and how these systems work together to support students.- Possesses an analytical approach to problem solving, and an ability to find solutions by leveraging and linking existing services.- Recognizes problems and devises and implements action plans.- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous record-keeping and attention to detail.- High standards of ethics and integrity, with a commitment to changing lives.- An ability to understand and work with student information systems- Able to work a flexible schedule, reflecting a periodically heavy workloadAbout Yorkville UniversityFounded in 2004, Yorkville University is a Canadian university with a national presence.
