Together, TD Finance helps the Bank make smart business decisions, ensure regulatory compliance and financial reporting accuracy and guard the integrity of TD’s business processes, drive efficiencies with external suppliers and manage TD’s global real estate portfolio.Our core Finance teams help to make TD the Better Bank by working together to deliver insightful advice, meaningful reporting and professional operations The TD Finance operating model is comprised of three main parts:Finance Operations – a centralized team performing a range of services such as general accounting, reporting, and transaction processing on behalf of Finance and the EnterpriseBusiness Partner – perform analytics and provide advice to the business to support strategy and decision-makingSpecialized Functions – providing domain or knowledge-based expertise to the EnterpriseJob DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity to be a part of TDs Finance organization. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the position is responsible to lead a multi-faceted accounting operations department with accountability for providing direction and day-to-day guidance on a range of general accounting and operational activities.We will be offering different levels of people leadership roles in Finance Operations.Role Accountabilities:Build and lead a diverse, high performing team of finance professionals responsible to perform general accounting functions, which includes:Production and preparation of Management Reporting for business lines, including data gathering, cleansing and validationCollecting / validating income statement items such as NII, revenue, Other income, expense, credit loss, etc.Preparation of standardized tables and charts for monthly reports (e.g. flash report, operating results, supplementals) for presentation to senior management / leadership.Analysis and investigation of financials (e.g., variance analysis)Closing month-end activities, including posting necessary entries, accruals, AdHoc Entries- calculation & posting, variable compensationPerforming a variety of accounting functions which may include cost accounting, inter and intra segment allocations, tax and preparation and review account reconciliationsKeep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirementsDeliver quality service; achieve performance goals such as SLAs and KPIs, in a transformative and changing environmentSupporting key stakeholders for reporting needs and requirementsExecute existing process controls and implement new controls as neededStrive for operational excellence through ongoing process improvementsProduction and preparation of regulatory reporting including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), Supplemental Information, or certain Capital ReportingCollect/cleanse/validate manual and system generated data for reportingPreparation and review account reconciliationsAnalysis and investigation of financials.Identify operational problems and escalate issues as requiredMaintain knowledge of the end-to-end processes#LIPostJob RequirementsUnderstand the risk profile of the work and maintain a strong controls environment and audit ready position; guide the team accordinglyFoster a climate of open and transparent communication within team, FinOps and key stakeholdersPerform interviews and ensure effective on-boarding and successful training of new employees.Builds strong and capable teams, with the skills and talent required to succeed in a challenging and rapidly changing environmentProvides effective day-to-day coaching and guidance to colleagues; share and teach best practicesIs able to find opportunities to optimize the allocation of resources across the units, taking into account workload/utilization across the teamActively mentors individuals to build organizational capabilityBe an effective coach and offer development opportunities to team membersProvide meaningful and timely performance reviews, including regular feedback throughout the year to team membersEngage and work with partner across FinOps, BP and Specialized FunctionsComfortable leading through change, process improvements and transformationSpecific Educational Requirements:Undergraduate business or accounting degreeProfessional Accreditation such as CPA, CFA or post graduate degree would be an assetExperience with US GAAP is an asset5+ years of experience in finance or accounting fields; 2+ years management experienceKnowledge of capital markets and investment vehicles required (stocks/bonds/derivatives)Strong finance acumen – understanding the business and related processesManagement experience in a finance or operations-like environmentStrong understanding of the financial and accounting standards applicable to financial institutionsExcellent analytical skills in assessing risk, issues and challenging the status quo; adept at using productivity tools and end-user software (such as MS Office suite)Experience in one or more of Excel, SQL, Hyperion, Alteryx, Tableau, EssbaseSkilled at leading, managing and motivating a diverse group of professionalsBrings out the best in people - strong people management with demonstrated experience in building high performing teams through use of positive influenceGood communicator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employeesEncourages collaboration by bringing together multiple partners to align on solutions and address contending prioritiesAbility to stay resilient under pressureExpertise in working effectively in teams and with multiple partners at varying levelsRobust organizational skills with the ability to work in a demanding environment and handle multiple deadlines and prioritiesHas excellent judgement and decision-making abilitiesAdditional InformationManagers at TD Bank Group contribute to the overall reputation of TD, and help to set the ethical, organizational and performance standards for the teams they lead.
