Job Description

Job Location:MonctonState/Province:New BrunswickReporting to the Senior finance Business Partner of the Connectivity division of Telecon, the accounting technician will work with various finance and operational team members. The role will primarily support the Atlantic region business units but will expand to other regions/business units/subsidiaries as we improve and evolve our financial processes. In this role, you will support all accounting cycles (excluding payroll) including accounts receivable, billing and collections, accounts payables, project accounting and general support to the team with various month-end tasks.This is a new role being created to support the growth and increased volumes in our Atlantic region.Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Providing accounting and clerical assistance to the accounting department
  • Assisting with the processing of supplier invoices and supporting documents
  • Support customer billing activities, cash application and other related AR related activities
  • Creating new projects in D365 (the Telecon accounting system)
  • Review customer account balances for collection efforts.
  • Send emails or make outbound collection calls in a professional manner while keeping and improving customer relations.
  • Resolve client-billing problems and resolve accounts receivable delinquency, applying good customer service in a timely manner.
  • Collect customer payments in accordance with payment due dates.
  • Identify issues attributing to account delinquency and discuss them with operational teams.
  • Correspondence to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
  • Ensure the on-going accuracy of client data in accounting system.
  • Perform on-boarding of new clients including credit checks
Experience and Skills
  • The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 2-3 years of general accounting experience
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills required
  • Ability to work independently and to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Access.
  • Attention to detail with a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Creative, self-disciplined and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency.
