Job Description

Position Overview Reporting to the Senior Director of Outreach Programs and Services, this position provides front line interventions and housing assistance to youth and adults who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, as well as those living in poverty. The Housing Navigator provides a range of services to decrease barriers and increase success in maintaining permanent housing, including assessment, service planning, skills teaching, resource identification and follow-up while ensuring to the YMCA Mission, Vision and Core Values and developmental Asset Philosophy.Duties: · Assist staff with administrative duties as needed.· Perform an intake and assessment of each client to assist in determining the housing needs of each client· Make necessary referrals, as required (i.e. Income assistance, NB Housing, mental health etc.)·Develop relationships/network with a variety of people and organizations (Community groups, landlords, etc.)· To provide ongoing support in obtaining and maintain tenancy· Responsible for maintenance of statistics and report writing·Responsible to attend all staff meetings, department meetings, and professional development opportunities as deemed necessary by management··Engage with community organizations and shelters to help prevent inflow of individuals into and navigate those ready to leave homelessness.Skills & Qualifications · A criminal record check and vulnerable sector check are required as a condition of employment· Own transportation and valid license is a required condition of employment· Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset· Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR· Competency with technology i.e. computers, tablets, scanners etc.· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs etc.Competencies · Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with others to achieve optimal collective results· Conflict Resolution: facilitates appropriate and timely solutions· Diversity: Appreciates that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bringrichness to the YMCA.· Communication: Ability to speak, write, listen and secure information in a variety of settings.· Flexibility/Managing Change: Ability to know your environment, initiate and respond effectivelyto changing conditions.· Values Diversity: Appreciates that people with different opinions, backgrounds, andcharacteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.Job Types: Full-time, ContractContract length: 18 monthsSalary: $40,000.00 per yearBenefits:
