The CN team is made up of approximately 24,000 railroaders that transports more than C$250 billion worth of goods annually for a wide range of business sectors, ranging from resource products to manufactured products to consumer goods, across a rail network of approximately 20,000 route-miles spanning Canada and mid-America.Applications must be submitted in full no later than [DEADLINE]Summary:Title: Category Procurement InternEmployment Type: Paid Internship (4 months)Hours: 8 hours/dayLocation: Hybrid (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) in Montreal, QCTarget Start Date: January 2024About this Role: The Intern, Procurement and Supply Management (P amp;SM)is responsible for working with Category Analysts, Managers, and Senior Managers to support and drive a variety of projects. The incumbent works with different teams (e.g. Business, Legal, Compliance, or Finance) to ensure that deadlines and deliverables are met.The projects provide the opportunity to learn and gain experience while being mentored. Essential Tasks - In this job, you will:
  • Perform spend analysis on category projects using data from SAP to make project recommendations on PowerPoint
  • Assist the Category Analyst in building requirements for Requests for Proposals (RFP’s)
  • Assist the Category Analyst in elaborating Awards of Business (AoB’s) and ensuring compliance in tagging and contracts
  • Assist in additional project management tasks such as logistics, delivery and inspection updates, invoice discrepancies, and transmission of expenditure reports to the Finance team
General Skills and Abilities - You are:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to speak with clients and suppliers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet the requirements of a 24/7 organization and constantly shifting priorities
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects, as well as seeking out new projects during quiet times
Digital/Technical Skillsamp; Tools - You are:
  • Between basic and intermediate skills with the following Microsoft Applications:
    • Word
    • Powerpoint
    • Teams
    • Outlook
    • Sharepoint
    • OneNote
  • Between intermediate to expert skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Nice to have (but not required):
    • experience with SmartSheet
    • experience with SAP, ARIBA, or Tableau
Required skill level*
  • Basic -e.g., I can do this in simple situations with close or extensive guidance
  • Basic to Intermediate
  • Intermediate - e.g., I can do this in most situations, with occasional guidance
  • Intermediate to expert
  • Expert -e.g., I can do this in exceptionally difficult situations with no guidance and I can be a key resource for others.
Education/Knowledge - You:
  • Graduated within the last year or have completed at least one year of a Bachelor #39;s Degree in Operations Management, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • The ability to understand French
Experience (Professional, Academic, Personal) - You:
  • an interest or experience in manufacturing and/or transportation
  • an interest or experience in negotiations and solutions resolution
