Backend Java Developer OR Full Stack Java (Angular/React) Developer 12 month contract (multiyear project) | Up to $100/hr Cutting edge cloud migration project at leading investment bank in Montreal

Department Overview:This is a great opportunity to work with a leading investment bank in Montreal. They are looking for a Backend Java or Fullstack developer to join their Capital Markets Operations Technology Group, who are responsible for building and operating the technology platform catering to critical business processes including Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, and other post-trade functions.The Project The Bank is going through a huge Agile and Cloud Transformation and you will work within an Agile delivery team closely aligned with Operations product owners to drive the scope of this project forward.The Person:We are looking for a senior server-side OR full-stack developer in areas of Java programming, preferably with exposure to Cloud Architecturesamp; public cloud offerings. This position requires taking ownership for end-to-end delivery in an Agile team setting. You will have to interact directly with the users and with technologists across the bank to implement components from scratch for the Settlement platform and integrate this with the other internal and external platforms. This will be the first major application/system to be deployed onto the cloud at the firm, this is a big deal.Must have skills:
  • 5+ years hands-on development experience developing complex back-end systems in Java
  • Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals: Design Patterns, Data Structures, Algorithms, OO Principles, Big O Notation
  • Strong Multithreading/Concurrency experience
  • Experience working in an Agile environment/knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Strong SQL and Relational Database experience (Sybase, DB2, Oracle etc)
  • Understanding of cloud-based application development preferably using Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Experience using the Spring framework.
Nice to have skills:
  • Front end Development experience – Angular2+ OR ReactJS.
  • Prior Financial Markets knowledge
  • Messaging experience – preferably Kafka for Data Pipelines (will consider JMS, MQ Series or other)
