Job DescriptionAs a leader in the metals recycling industry, American Iron and Metals (AIM) is your environmentally friendly partner for efficient recycling of your metals, end-of-life vehicles and construction scrap, as well as managing your most complex demolition and decommissioning projects. We also offer the most innovative and reliable products and alloys for the electronics industry. AIM Recycling is one of the most technologically advanced metal recyclers in North America. Its equipment and processes propel AIM Recycling on the international scene.

  • This role will be sourcing the mobile assets – parts and maintenance contract on either new or existing equipment used in the various AIM operations. In addition to a solid technical ability, the role will require an innovative approach and ability to take on responsibility, communicate clearly and effectively, be organized, and work collaboratively with other members. This position is ideal for an individual with an appropriate balance of technical ability and procurement people skills.
  • Support in the development and implement short/medium term strategies for the Mobile Recycling Equipment category. Support the operations in delivering commercial solutions for requirements on-site considering the overall Supply Chain Strategy using the basic principles of Total Cost of Ownership.
Maintenance Strategy Development:
  • Ensure all direct team employees and contractors are compliant with systems and procedures to deliver a zero-harm outcome.
  • Determine, and ensure requirement within contracts, any Health, Safety, Environment and Heritage initiatives appropriate for implementation into Customer Group works.
  • Provide visible safety leadership by modelling positive safety behaviors to all staff and contractors.
  • Responsible for appropriate team and personal awareness and compliance to cultural norms, business trade practices and etiquette.
  • Lead components and contribute to the functional business plans for the Procurement Group and assist the Customer Internal with commercial inputs for their operational business plans.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Customer Internal needs are consistently met or exceeded regarding the provision of contracting, procurement services, with strong emphasis on forward planning as required.
  • Proactively build constructive, respectful, and positive relationships with the Customer Internal.
  • Ability to build wide rapport with internal and external stakeholders and to influence buy-in.
  • Propose and justify commercial benefit initiatives in new capital, sustaining capital, maintenance
Performance Measurement:
  • Develop a set of metrics that measure the effectiveness of the maintenance programs in place for each site, measure the effectiveness and cost of the maintenance programs in place. -
  • Identify maintenance best practices, procurement and build knowledge within the company towards a collaborative, asset management and procurement center of excellence model.
  • Deliver a Sourcing strategy document that incorporates a balanced used of OEMamp; non-OEM supply base for items included in the Recycling Equipment
  • Implement an end-to-end supply chain mapping process to evaluate supply risk, cost factors, negotiation levers
  • Ensure supply of critical components in line with the asset long term maintenance plans
  • Incorporate asset replacement plansamp; long-term maintenance plans to secure best fit supply chain models (includes used asset procurement strategies to minimize capex outlay)
  • Analysisamp; review of existing supply agreement along with gap analysis versus a should-be model based on gathered market knowledge w.r.t other supply opportunities and gaps versus competition (warranty termsamp; conditions, spares return conditions etc.) 
Equipment Management / stakeholders:
  • Ensure adequate Contract Coverage thus mitigating supply risk whilst continually delivering input cost reductions, a thorough understanding of the dynamic supply market metrics
