Job Description

Junior Financial Accountant – ValPay – MontrealWe are hiring at ValPay and are looking to appoint a Junior Financial Accountant to join our finance team in Montreal! ValPay is scaling rapidly, and we’re looking for a detail-oriented and driven Junior Financial Accountant to support our finance operations. Ideal for someone early in their career who wants to grow in a fast-paced, operationally-focused environment. Here is a little window into our company: ValPay, the payment processing arm of Valsoft, operates and manages Valsoft’s global portfolio of wholly owned software companies, providing mission-critical integrated payment processing solutions across multiple verticals. By implementing industry best practices, ValPay delivers a time-sensitive integration process, and the operation of a decentralized model has allowed it to become a hub for creating rapid growth by reinvesting in its portfolio. Our motto is “Be Humble, Stay Hungry!” The successful candidate will be based anywhere within commutable distance of our office in Montreal, Saint-Laurent, working in an in-office work model!What your day will look like:

  • Assist with day-to-day accounting functions (A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations)
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Support audits and financial reporting
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Experience in SaaS, tech, or high-growth environments is highly advantageous
  • Exposure to ERP systems or automation tools is highly advantageous
About You:
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is essential
  • 1–2 years of financial accounting experience or a relevant internship is essential
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS)
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite)
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A roll-up-the-sleeves attitude towards problem-solving
  • Coachable, eager and willing to learn
  • Flexible and able to adapt to change
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is essential
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada is essential
