DescriptionPosition Title:Assistant Branch ManagerDepartment:Mossbank BranchLocation:Mossbank,SaskatchewanDescription:Southland Co-op is seeking a full-time Assistant Branch Manager for our Branch in Mossbank, Saskatchewan.Who We Are:Co-op does business differently.As a co-operative, we believe in working together to serve Western Canadians, delivering profits back to our communities and investing in sustainable growth.To learn more about who we are and how you can help bring our brand to life, visit us at www.southlandco-op.crs.What you #39;ll do:Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible to assist with the oversight and management of the Branch with multiple product categories including ag equipment and feed, hardware, full service fuel, oil and propane, confectionary and tobacco.You will work with the Branch Manager to establish short-term strategies, goals and objectives for the Branch in alignment with Southland #39;s strategic plan.You will be a hands on leader that oversees the adherence to branch and merchandising standards, marketing efforts, image standards, safety and asset protection.You will coach and develop team members, providing day to day direction and guidance, including performance management, training and development.You will monitor customer satisfaction levels and identify areas for improvement.You will be commuted to self-development and embrace opportunities to take internal and external training to better serve our members with enhanced product knowledge.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists Branch Manager with the management, maintenance, and security of the Branch location and property. Contributes to setting operational direction and providing oversight in the implementation of programs and policies. Assists with growth of sales to improve profitability and make recommendations and oversee store pricing, promotions, and products. Provide recommendations for major maintenance repairs and expense items and ensure the Branch maintains proper housekeeping.
  • Oversee adherence to brand and merchandising standards, marketing efforts, image standards, safety, and asset protection. Responsible for the procurement of merchandise and ensures all ordering schedules are followed and inventory control programs meet customer requirements. Develop strategies to promote the sale of slow moving merchandise and/or discontinue slow moving and obsolete lines. Responsible for ensuring the proper receiving and warehousing procedures are in effect.
  • Work with Branch Manager to prepare, administer, and achieve budgeted goals as it relates to the pricing, sales, margins, expenses, and inventory of the Branch. Contribute to developing, reviewing, and obtaining approval of annual operating budgets to ensure adherence and appropriate utilization of funds.
  • Examine all operating statements for the store to ensure efficient operations and to assist with addressing any concerns where necessary. Oversee all cash handled in the store to ensure company procedures are followed in respect to purchase orders and accounts receivable. Responsible for the proper transferring and mark-down records as per company policy.
  • Provide leadership to the team, including assisting with recruitment, goal setting, performance management, training and development of team members. Promote and ensure adherence to brand and merchandising standards, marketing efforts, image standards, safety, and asset protection. Implement job processes/procedures including on-the-job instructions and training of store employees.
  • Responsible for building strong customer relationships and delivering solutions. Oversee and monitor client satisfaction levels, ensure customer issues are resolved, and identify areas for improvement. Participate in the development of products and services to improve profit and increase customer satisfaction. Actively engage in programs aimed at promoting good customer relations, increasing sales volume, and continually strive to improve store friendliness and customer service.
  • Oversee the completion and follow through of all safety and environmental policies and procedures and ensure standards are achieved. Responsible for coordination and oversight of all safety, maintenance, and asset protection policies. Ensures compliance with applicable government standards, as well as ensuring the practice of safety regulations by store employees and customers to promote the elimination of hazardous conditions.

  • You have 3-5 years of relevant experience, including 1 year of leadership experience
  • You have strong leadership, customer service and operational management skills.
  • You are capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Propane certification, forklift experience and first aid certification an asset.
