Job Type: Full-time (30-40 hours per week), year-round termsWage: $18 -25 per hour (depending on experience)Perks:

  • $500-$650 room and board per month available (pro-rated every two weeks), Bonus: 50 % of room and board paid back as a credit towards room and board after completion of contract Northern Tax Allowance (Canada Gov.), Travel subsidy $500 paid after completion of contract.

Winters at Muncho lake can be slow so it is important for new team members to be self starters at work and leisure. Even though Muncho lake is remote we are still connected to the world via internet, however connections can sometimes be unstable, outdoor activities are best suited for this area. Their will be ample opportunity to explore this pristine natural environment, be it on cross country skis, snowshoes or any other form of outdoor activity. Muncho lake has much to offer for those looking for a more reclusive work environment. In the summer our business undergoes a metamorphosis. Travellers from around the world will arrive at our doorsteps some to take part in our premium floatplane tours others to just spend the at the lodge. We offer plenty of outdoor oriented packages for eager adventurers; fishing, canoeing, wildlife viewing and floatplane tours amongst other things make up our complement of tours.About this jobWe are seeking an experienced assistant manager with basic IT experience and web design. During the winter we run a small dedicated crew with a heavy emphasis on Teamwork. The manager and the front Desk staff are the face of our business. An intricate knowledge of all packages, special offers, tours, various classes of accommodations and RV sites will be required. IT tasks could include maintaining our business networks (guest wifi etc), management of our digital accounts and computers. Web design tasks can include designing a new website using square space, editing multimedia and setting up presentations. It is imperative that all staff be friendly, greet people on entering the building, and strive to make a customer’s visit to the Northern Rockies Lodge most enjoyable. As an assistant manager you will be team leader and therefore responsible for schedules and must maintain an oversight that the department is efficient and consistent with company policyResponsibilities
  • Operate front desk with minimal supervision, train and supervise front desk staff, servers, housekeepers
  • General office duties including filing and billing, statistics
  • Greet customers at entrance – make them aware of hotel, restaurant, gas station, RV campground and floatplane tours
  • Answer phones, reply to email inquiries
  • Operate gas station from front desk gas console
  • Front desk nightly audit and record keeping of statistics with Microsoft Excel
  • Operate cash machine and restock gift shop
  • Maintaining a clean workplace, and reception area (dusting, cleaning windows, vacuuming etc)
  • Maintaing our digital systems and webservices
  • Website design and multimedia work
  • Assisting in other departments when needed (housekeeping, service, kitchen)
Pluses:
  • Speak another language, especially German and French
  • Tourism or marketing degree and / or practicum
  • Basic cooking skills
  • BC FOODSAFE Certification
  • Serving It Right
  • Serving or housekeeping experience
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Native / near-native level of English
  • Previous experience working hotel front desk or office reception
  • Marketing and/or IT experience, design experience in Adobe Photoshop
  • Demonstrates good knowledge of customer service and has excellent computer skills
  • Canadian citizen / permanent residence or have a valid work visa
  • Salary/Wage: $18-25/hour
