As a result, we have a wide range of traditional food options, as well as, newly developed products to meet the dynamic needs of Albertans.For more information about the company please visit: www.mundaresausage.com.What’s the RoleWe are seeking a self-motivated team player to join our management team as the HACCP Coordinator and Quality Assurance Technician. This is a short-term role that has the potential to become a fulltime position.The candidate will work with staff in Mundare, AB to contiue our HACCP plan for the facility. The candidate will then transition into the diverse and exciting role of HACCP coordinator, Quality Assurance Technician, and potentially Safety Officer. Our facility is SQF certified.The HACCP Coordinator, will be required to learn, maintain and improve upon our HACCP plans to ensure accuracy, suitability, and compliance with CFIA guidelines; audit process controls and manufacturing compliance as per Stawnichy’s procedures, including pre-op and operational inspection procedures; follow non-conforming product procedures in the event of a deviation; conduct training to employees to reinforce or introduce Quality Policies.The candidate will be responsible for our quality control program, including raw material program (inspectionamp; grading; review and updating of specifications and certificates of analysis; supplier verification); manage nutritional information; oversee customer inquiries and investigate/report on customer concerns.Qualifications required include a Food Science degree with further training on HACCP requirements and audit processes. Additional on the job training can be offered.Remuneration: Salary commensurate with education and experience.Responsibilities of the HACCP Coordinator:

  • Provide support with our Quality and Food Safety programs including
  • HACCP, with an emphasis on continuous improvement
  • Perform daily Pre-Op inspection, GMP inspection and verification checks of Critical Control Point
  • Perform weekly scale calibration checks and monthly thermometer checks
  • Participate in monthly facility food safety inspection
  • Ensure that all records, procedures and processes, packaging and equipment are in compliance with government requirements
  • Main contact for Pest Control Operator and responsible for the maintenance of Integrated Pest Management program and quarterly trend analysis
  • Assist with training schedule and training for all employees on Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety and HACCP Principles
  • Perform daily checks of incoming food items and raw materials and provide immediate feedback to operations and purchasing personnel
  • Perform monthly environmental monitoring swabs and submit periodic spice/blend samples for micro analysis verification
  • Investigate quality concerns with customers and suppliers, resolve and follow up corrective measures
  • Assist in Product Development by providing feedback on issues that may arise during the process
  • Scheduling and assembly of Lab blend samples
  • Ordering of laboratory supplies as required
  • Competencies:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate with, as well as, manage other team members
  • Proven ability to work unsupervised and to meet targeted goals
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, sense of urgency and flexibility, requires limited supervision
  • Working knowledge of quality practices and procedures and the ability to coordinate a HACCP Program and provide improvements
  • Good understanding of production – plant and office procedures
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Genesis, Dynamics and Labelview
  • Maintains up-to-date industry knowledge
  • A thorough understanding of existing raw materials and their functionality
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, and with customers
  • Understanding of current labeling guidelines and regulations in Canada
Qualifications:
  • A Secondary School Diploma (completion of high school)
  • Degree in Food Chemistry or Equivalent from an accredited College or University (encouraged not required)
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills.
  • Laboratory competence including a thorough understanding of experimental design and skills
  • Food industry experience and knowledge of industry benchmarks ie. HACCP, ISO, SRamp; ED etc.
