We realize it takes world-class people to run world-class operations so we offer competitive total compensation packages.The OpportunityThe Customer & Operations Service Specialist - Contract supports the new logistics division of DP World Canada with customer service & operational support at our Nanaimo Transload Center.In this role, you will

• Respond to email and telephone inquiries from shipping lines, BCO’s, trucking companies, and internal stakeholders; and act as the liaison between customers and the transload operations team.

• Resolve gate related issues following internal procedures and adjust gate appointments to ensure optimization of the gate.

• Planning of documentation and manning for transload needs.

• Prepare and balance import and export documentation, create load plans, monitoring information for errors and confirm data accuracy against relevant documentation.

• Monitor changes to effectively communicate information to external and internal stakeholders
• Prepare documentation for hazardous and special handling cargo, as well as prepare and submit multiple types of billing events.

• Coordinate damages with customers, shift-managers, and the claim department and coordinate with government agencies holds and inspections.

What you bring to the role

• 2 plus years working within logistics; a strong focus on transloading, ocean & road freight
• University degree or college diploma in a related field is preferred such as business administration, commerce or logistics/transportation; OR the equivalent combination of operations training and experience in the related disciplines.
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a high volume setting.
• Understanding and remain current with Canadian Import/Export regulations
• Exceptional computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software. Customer Service attitude. MS Office and special attention to Excel.
• A willingness to take initiative to solve problems and a desire to identify process improvements.
• Strong attention to detail; Strong written and verbal and interpersonal skills with team and other departments.
• Ability to communicate clear and concise information in an accurate and informative manner with clients, carriers, other forwarders and vendors
• Assist with shipments from open to close. Must be able to handle the day-to-day operational activities and close out the file in accounting..
• Proactive and effective judgment within defined practices and policies
• Detail oriented to ensure workflow is efficient and accurate
• Self-motivated with the ability to be a team player
• Superior time management and organizational skills.
• Shift flexibility related to a 24/7 operation
