The Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District is looking for a passionate leader to join our Facilities team as Operations ManagerThe Operations Manager reports to the Executive Director of Planning & Operations and is responsible for the day to day operations pertaining to custodial services, waste management (garbage, recycling, organics) pest control, and the security of all buildings throughout our district. Working with a dynamic management team you will oversee the Operations Department including an Assistant Manager, General Foreman and a team of 75+ custodians.Your experience in a management role coupled with your experience in business and/or custodial services makes you an ideal candidate for this role.Your ability to build strong relationships with people at all levels of an organization is a strength you leverage to create successful business results.Grounded in a people-based approach to leadership, you advise and mentor those you work with in efforts to build an extraordinarily high-performing team of talent.Your expertise in the field of Building Services, Operations Management and Security Services will assist you in leading the team to successful outcomes.Your ability to maintain business continuity during challenging times is an assetAdministration and supervision of all staff assigned to the Operations Department and contract services is required.Ability to manage the annual departmental budget including budget development.Professional development, technological advancement and your work in advancing safety, people and quality in a high functioning custodial team is desired.You have at least five years of related experienceYou possess the equivalent combination of skills, education and related industry experience to meet the responsibilities of the role:Minimum two years Post Secondary education in Business Management, Custodial Services or a related fieldFive years experience in the building services field in a multi-site, unionized settingFive years management / supervisory experience in a related fieldWorking knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulationsProven leadership skills and a team approach to managing with the ability to provide leadership in a changing environmentAbility to deal with highly confidential and sensitive issues with a high degree of diplomacy and confidentialityExcellent skill with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.Strong ability to communicateNanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools is one of the largest school districts in the province with over 40 facilities, 2200 employees and 15,000 students.
