As Staff Accountant / Office Manager, you #39;ll handle everything from payroll and job costing to office organization and project support. You #39;ll work closely with ownership, project managers, and our external CPA while supporting the rest of our crew behind the scenes. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
  • Maintain the general ledger and produce financial reports
  • Track project budgets vs. actuals and assist with job costing analysis
  • Coordinate year-end with external CPAs or tax professionals
  • Handle subcontractor payments, lien releases, and sales tax filings
  • Oversee insurance audits
  • Ensure daily office operations run efficiently
  • Perform customer service and data entry tasks
  • Supervise and manage office staff handling administrative functions
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, vendor contracts, and insurance
  • Organize both physical and digital filing systems
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Implement office policies, systems, and procedures
  • Assist with job setup and contract documentation
  • Track purchase orders, delivery receipts, and vendor invoices
  • Support scheduling and coordination with subcontractors and vendors
  • Process payroll and oversee time tracking
  • Assist with onboarding and maintain employee records
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and handle WCB-related tasks
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Business Admin, or similar
  • 3 to 5 (or more) years of experience in a similar role (construction experience preferred)
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage 100 Contractor, or Foundation
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reports, and construction finances
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Tech-savvy, with strong Excel and document management experience
  • Clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and keep things moving forward.
Compensationamp; Benefits
  • Competitive salary at $60,000 to $75,000 per year, based on experience
