Community:NaujaatReference number:10-507494Type of employment:TermType of Employment 2:This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Naujaat.Union Status:This position is included in the Nunavut Employees UnionSalary:$69,526.00-$78,899.00 per annum 37.5 hours/weekNorthern Allowance:21,894.00 fiscal yearNo staff housing availableThis employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Naujaat.Reporting to the Regional Community Oral Health Coordinator – Kivalliq, the Community Oral Health Coordinator is responsible for oral health promotion, dental education and providing primary preventative care for children 0 – 12 years of age.The position will engage with partners, such as schools, daycares, and community programs to ensure access to children of this age group. The Community Oral Health Coordinator will further assist in coordinating activities as needed for oral health professionals (such as dentists, dental therapists, and dental hygienists) to complete their work.The Community Oral Health Coordinator will promote oral health programming for children between the ages of 0 – 12 years; assist in identifying the cohort for oral health promotion and prevention work; act as the main link between the community and visiting dental professionals; assist in delivery of oral health education in the community; responsible for office organization; carry out community oral health initiatives as directed by oral health professionals and para-professionals; travel to other communities to assist dental teams as assigned.The knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired though a High School Diploma and one year experience in providing dental services, office administration or a related field.Experience in working with children, and in teaching both children and adults will be considered as a strong asset. Training will be provided to the successful applicant.This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
