Job Description

SALES MANAGER – NELSON BREWING COMPANYJob SummaryThe Sales Manager has the exciting opportunity to spread the news of Nelson Brewing throughout Western Canada. Equal parts brand ambassador, sales specialist, and data guru, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with accounts throughout the West Kootenays, while driving new business within B.C. and Alberta. The Sales Manager will lead a small team of dedicated sales and marketing staff in a way that promotes accountability and ensures sales metrics are achieved. Being a self-starter with grit is a must for success in this role. A passion for craft beer and extensive knowledge of the industry is vital to guide decisions around branding and product development.Duties and ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development:

  • Contribute to increasing overall sales volume within the BCLDB and retail channels
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers throughout the Kootenays
  • Expand brand and product awareness through education, promotional activities, and special events
  • Develop new retail opportunities within the region
  • Generate, plan, and execute effective promotions and displays within retail stores
  • Represent and promote the brewery at company and industry events
  • Travel regularly within the Kootenays, and occasionally throughout B.C and Alberta
  • Maintain a critical thinking and problem-solving approach in the face of challenges
Team and Sales Management:
  • Develop a sales growth strategy, including pricing and LTO tactics
  • Use sales data to proactively establish sales targets and forecasts with the leadership team
  • Use analytics to monitor and react to market trends, and adjust sales forecasts and goals accordingly
  • Present Key Performance Indicators to Leadership monthly
  • Manage performance of the individuals and team through a mentoring, monitoring and motivating approach
  • Hire new team members and develop strong onboarding and training programs to ensure success
  • Develop and maintain a fiscally responsible budget for the Sales Department
  • Manage relationships with agencies and agency representatives to ensure targets are achieved
  • Collaborate with Leadership on a fiscally responsible marketing budget to support sales goals
Product Development:
  • Play a key role in new product development
  • Use data and analytics to be ahead of consumer trends and identify new opportunities in the market
  • Create and implement product road maps for each new product
  • Redefine existing brand positioning
  • A passion for craft beer, is well versed in the different styles, and understands industry terminology
  • Minimum two years’ experience in the alcohol industry, preferably craft beer
  • Three to five years’ experience as a sales rep in the alcohol industry, within Canada
  • Well versed in the sales process
  • One to three years’ experience managing people
  • Established track record of increasing sales
  • Experience assessing sales trends using analytical tools
  • Proven ability to establish strong new relationships with customers, retail buyers, etc.
  • Shows initiative to consistently improve processes and seek new opportunities
  • Maintains a positive attitude under stress
  • Highly organized, energetic, and driven
  • Works well independently and in a team environment
Qualifications
  • A passion for craft beer, is well versed in the different styles, and understands industry terminology
  • Minimum two years’ experience in the alcohol industry, preferably craft beer

Working Conditions
  • 40 hours/week
  • Flexible workdays, including some evenings and weekends, festivals, and local tasting events

  • Frequent travel required within Kootenays and occasional travel throughout B.C. and Alberta
  • Combination of in-office and remote work
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
Compensation
  • Base salary range of $85,000 - $105,000
