New Brunswick Public Library ServicePUBLIC LIBRARY SOCIAL WORKER(Social Worker – Level 2)Flexible location: Moncton, Fredericton or Saint JohnWHO WE ARE:New Brunswick Public Library Service (NBPLS) is a provincial network made up of one provincialoffice, 5 regional offices, 52 public libraries, 11 public-school libraries, a virtual branch and a ProvincialTalking Book Service. Our public libraries aim to be a place where people of all ages and backgroundscan gather while they pursue their educational, social and recreational needs.THE OPPORTUNITY:With the guidance of a steering committee, you will lead a provincial pilot investigating the addition ofsocial work services in public libraries. You will report to the Library Director and work from one publiclibrary, either Saint John, Moncton or Fredericton while providing support to other libraries throughoutthe province.Your work may include a combination of the following: assessment, counselling, intervention, mediation,training, program and service development and delivery, organizational planning, and report writing.You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with library users, library staff,professionals, community and volunteer agencies, government departments and the public.This opportunity will require daytime, evening, and weekend shifts (based on work schedules). Sometravel will be required. You will require a valid driver’s license.TO BE SUCCESSFUL:We are looking for people with diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:Language: Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
