Job Description

Village of New DenverThe Village of New Denver is currently accepting applications for the following permanent full-time position:Utility 3ROLE:This senior employee in the Village of New Denvers public works department will report to the Villages CAO and will be responsible for the operation of municipal infrastructure.The position is a working position, suitable for individuals with experience across a wide range of municipal operations including water systems, snow removal, garbage collection, roads, parks, cemeteries and fleet maintenance.The successful candidate will be required to plan projects, exercise judgement and show initiative. The ability to supervise and train others is expected.This is a unionized position, and preference will be given to qualified members in good standing of the International Union of Operating Engineers.Applicants must clearly demonstrate how they meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Experience in day-to day operations and maintenance of municipal infrastructure works, or other equivalent combination of training and experience, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Proven ability to lead, direct, and manage staff in a unionized environment, and work collaboratively with numerous stakeholders
  • Knowledge of WSBC occupational health and safety regulations as applicable to public works activities
  • EOCP Level 1 Water Operator Certification
  • Valid BC Drivers License, minimum Class 3, with air brakes endorsement
