Job Description

You will be part of a team that provides children, youth, and adults of all ages reach feel a sense of belonging to their community.The OpportunityBased in New Glasgow/Pictou County, this position will work very closely with Pictou County Regional Economic Network (PC REN) and local YMCA Settlement and Language Team, employers and community organizations.Responsibilities

  • Identifying needs and resources
  • Providing an information & orientation and referring to specialized services needed
  • Ensure all client information is protected and confidentiality is maintained
  • Providing settlement and integration services
  • Supporting workplace success by providing additional targeted, practical interventions
Qualifications
  • Proven record of community outreach and networking
  • An understanding of, and experience with, cross-cultural matters and how they relate to settlement and integration for newcomers to Canada
  • Demonstrated excellent rapport building and strong communication skills
  • Robust experience, understanding and connection to a variety of community services and resources including business community
  • The ability to demonstrate positive and effective interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams and with a variety of stakeholders
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft 365 Office skills (i.e. Excel, Word, Publisher, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and tasks
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound judgement in the handling of confidential information
  • High level of initiative is needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated items
  • Schedule flexibility to accommodate variations outside of regular business hours, as needed
  • Valid NS Drivers License and reliable vehicle essential
Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of valid First Aid and CPR training. Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training. Proof of full vaccination against COVID19 (preferred).We Offer
