Department: JusticeLocation: NEW WATERFORDType of Employment: PermanentUnion Status: Exclusion - Non Union - NSPGClosing Date: 12/5/2022 (Applications are accepted until 11:59 PM Atlantic Time)About UsThe Maintenance Enforcement and Victim Services Division of the Department of Justice is responsible for providing support to victims of crime, including their families and children, including assistance with benefits owed to them through a maintenance support order and ensuring that there is improved access to these critical programs for vulnerable groups who need them.The Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP) is a free service of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice that helps you make or receive court-ordered maintenance payments when your court order is enrolled with the program and can take steps to enforce maintenance orders when payments are not made. The MEP operates under the laws set out in the Maintenance Enforcement Act. Benefits of enrolling in the MEP include: we keep an accurate record of all payments made and received; we protect your personal information; we act as a buffer between payors and recipients; we work with the MEP’s in other provinces if the payor or recipient live outside Nova Scotia; and we can take enforcement action if payments are not made. No one other than the MEP can enforce an order to pay maintenance.For more information on the Department of Justice MEP, please visit our website: https://mep.novascotia.ca/About Our OpportunityAs a Coordinator, you will be reporting to the Senior Manager and will be accountable for the overall management of each of the operations (client service and enforcement) of the Maintenance Enforcement Program which includes the Inter-jurisdictional Support Order Enforcement unit, in accordance with the Maintenance Enforcement Act and the Interjurisdictional Support Orders Act.Primary AccountabilitiesThe Coordinator is responsible for implementation of the program’s audit and compliance functions, in overseeing a proactive approach to enforcement of child and spousal court-ordered support and for the integrating new or modified client service approaches into an existing complex service delivery model, while maintaining the enforcement office’s service level objectives and client satisfaction targets.The successful Coordinator will be responsible to lead direct reports in making impartial and fair enforcement decisions, to take corrective action where necessary, address concerns of clients and to recommend solutions in complex files.Also, the Coordinator is responsible to be a change agent to work collaboratively under the supervision of the Senior Manager and with other Coordinators, and with the management team to achieve excellence in program delivery.Qualifications and ExperienceThis may be the right opportunity for you if you have a University degree with five (5) years of managerial experience in the area of family justice, or an acceptable equivalent is required. Preference will be given to candidates whose experience is within a justice related environment.Experience is required in a leadership role in the development and delivery of program or business services within existing legislative and policy frameworks; monitoring compliance with operational requirements; providing policy advice in the areas of program development and delivery; sound fiscal management.The candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills and have demonstrated sound thinking and decision making in a fast paced, client-centered program.The position requires a self-starter who is results orientated, possesses excellent interpersonal skills, has demonstrated the ability to lead and achieve consensus and cooperation among staff and other professionals and government officials, as well as with outside sources.
