BCC will be a recognized leader for quality homes, meticulously planning, and well-built liveable communities.ROLE SUMMARYReporting to the Vice President, Construction and working closely with the General Superintendent, CSOs’ and construction team on a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining BlueCity construction project specific safety programs, as directed by the General Superintendent.This role will require promotion of BlueCity safety philosophy and to develop strategies to maintain a safe work environment and highest safety standards according to Century Grange goals and values. The Safety Manager will implement necessary procedures and processes to ensure the safety of all workers, and will be responsible for educating and increasing safety awareness encompassing the overall safety of all persons on the job site. He or She will ensure a safe work environment is promoted through the Safety Committee, Toolbox meetings, Safety Orientations and periodic inspections of the work area to ensure correct procedures are followed.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES1. Responsible for developing and executing health and safety plans for the jobsite according to Worksafe B.C. regulations, andBlueCity goals and values with regular daily inspections to ensure that Management, Leaders, Workers and Contractors arecomplying with BlueCity Construction Corp OH&S Program.2. Prepares and enforces policies to establish a culture of health and safety by implementing the OH&S Program, monitor the safetyprogram’s effectiveness and make any necessary changes3. Work with project management teams and site workers to develop and implement solutions to safety related issues on project sites4. Maintains ongoing correspondence with the relevant authorities in regard to all aspects of safety requirements5. Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention6. Provide training to all employees on safe work practices7. Monitor compliance to policies by inspecting employees and operations8. Monitors all safety meetings to ensure they are held regularly9. Inspect equipment and machinery to identify and prevent possible unsafe conditions10. Investigate accidents, prepare and conduct incident reports to discover causes and handle workers compensation claims11. Maintain safety related paperwork and safety training certifications12. Set a good safety example13. Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures14. Responsible and prepares report on health and safety awareness, issues and statisticsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCEMinimum of six (6) years’ experience in the construction safety industry. Relevant Safety designation, such as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and/or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
