Job Description

Merlin Plastics Group is a processor of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic. We are dedicated and committed to providing environmental services for the packaging industry in an economically efficient, environmentally sound, and socially responsible fashion.Merlin Plastic Group is looking for Shunt truck driver who will in charge of moving trailers from the yard (within the yard, as needed, on and off the docks), scaling in and out all trailers.The trucks are automatic, class 1 is preferred but no mandatoryResponsibilities & Duties

  • Perform pre-trip/post-trip inspection of the truck and report any defects or damages to immediate supervisor or foreman
  • Perform inspection of every trailer before they are moved.
  • Move shunter/trailer in a safe manner.
  • Ensure that no damages are made to tractor/trailers.
  • Ensure that every trailer being moved are secured – both doors are closed and door hooks/latches are all hooked up.
  • Ensure that trailers are being moved to appropriate docks/yard.
  • Ensure that every trailer loads requiring weights are properly scaled-in/scaled-out.
  • Hookup and drop/unhook trailers in a safe manner.
  • Report immediately to yard/shipping/receiving coordinator or foreman any incidents/accidents that may happen during the movement of tractor/trailer.
  • Ensure that all paperwork required are filled-up and submitted to yard/shipping/receiving coordinator at the end of every shift
  • Perform other tasks as may be required by immediate supervisor or foreman
Skills and qualifications
  • Completion of high school
  • Licenses - class 1 license is an asset (automatic )
  • Experience – more than 6 months of truck driving
  • Ability to drive trucks in tight spaces
  • Personal characteristics (patience, positive attitude towards work, self-confident, trustworthy)
  • Able to communicate in English
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs
