Our education contributes to safer communities and a more just society byproviding professionals with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to excel at every stage of their careers and make adifference every day.Health Sciences Division (HSD):HSD trains first responders, emergency medical responders and paramedics, and regulatory practitioners inCanada and internationally.Position Summary:The Paramedic Academy at the Justice Institute of British Columbia invites applications from individualsinterested in sessional employment as an Instructor for the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) courses thatare held in Prince George, BC.We intend to fill multi positions from this posting through a selection process that will include submission of aresume and an interview process. Sessional employees will be used on an “on-call, as needed” basis.Primary Responsibilities:• Teach all or portions of the EMR course;

  • Perform student evaluations;
  • Provide written and verbal feedback to the students;
  • Document student progress for student records;
  • Convey training concerns from students to the EMR Lead Instructor and/or Program Manager;
  • Assist students with tutorials and remediation, when required.
Qualifications:• Licensed through the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Branch of British Columbia at the PCP level or higher.
  • Two years’ experience as a field practitioner (e.g., OFA, EMR, PCP or ACP).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse training and development teams.
  • Canadian Red Cross Professional Responder or Basic Life Support Instructor certification, preferred
  • Completion of the Essential Skills for Training and Facilitation (INDC-1110) course or equivalent, preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer skills – word processing, email and Internet navigation preferred.
