Job Description

Merlin Plastics is a processor of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic. We are dedicated and committed to providing environmental services for the packaging industry in an economically efficient, environmentally sound, and socially responsible fashion.We are looking for a Shipping & Receiving Supervisor who can look after shipping and receiving and yard.Employment type:Full-time, PermanentLocation:351 Gifford St, New Westminster, BCResponsibilities

  • Lead and supervise shipping & receiving employees
  • Ensure shipping & receiving employees perform job responsibilities correctly and safely
  • Provide assistance in scheduling, forecasting changes, and resolving manpower issues
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments
  • Ensure forklift checklist are completed at the start and end of each shift. Any problems or damage to the forklift must be reported to the lead hand right away.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or any damage that they caused or they see to forklifts or parts of the building
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance report
  • Perform shipping & receiving functions as needed, including driving a forklift to load and unload trucks, trailers or railcars when necessary
  • Verify that orders are correct
  • Ensure loading bays should be cleaned when necessary
  • Supervise cleaning crew and audit worker
  • Ensure trailers must be swept after unloading materials
Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary school
  • Hands on forklift experience
  • Experience in a warehouse in a Shipping role for at least 3 years
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Positive attitude towards work
  • Works well under stress
  • Capable of taking decisions, problem solver
  • Capable of lifting 25-45 lbs
