Job Description

Title: Carpenter (Site Supervisor)Location: Various locations across the GTAReports to: Project ManagersOverviewCarpenters at Burke’s are responsible for taking the scope provided by the Project Managers and executing the the demolition and repair of all items included within the scope. All carpenters are considered Site Supervisors at Burke’s as they can be assigned to be the lead on any job. Job functions can include but are not limited to all forms of demolition, construction and housekeeping required to restore houses of which each person is competent in performing. Carpenters are required to have their own vehicle as well as all the tools necessary for the job. Job locations may vary from Etobicoke to Scarborough and Newmarket to Downtown Toronto.Tasks

  • Check schedule each night for job site location and arrive at job site for 8:00 am unless otherwise instructed by the Estimator
  • Read over estimate with Project Manager to ensure understanding, that the timeline is accurate and that it appropriately represents the scope of work.
  • Perform daily construction/demolition work
  • Work in a safe manner following all health and safety policies
  • Perform workplace inspections for hazards and take appropriate safety measures when required
  • Keep work area clean and tidy
  • Work as a team with Skilled Labourers and Labourers to complete projects on time
  • Stay in contact with Project Manager to report on the progress of the job

Experience
  • 5-10 years of carpentry experience in a wide variety of carpentry functions.
    • Carpenters should be proficient in Rough and Finish Carpentry, Painting, Demolition, Drywalling, Taping, Mudding, etc.
Work ConditionsWork hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to FridayAdditional: We are a 24/7 emergency service company and have to perform emergencies outside of regular working hours. Emergency calls after 5:00 pm on weekdays and anytime on weekends will be paid at double time.Travel requirements: Travel to and from job sites in the GTA (Job locations may vary from Etobicoke to Scarborough and Newmarket to Downtown Toronto)Environment conditions: Going into houses that have had floods, fires and could contain mold or asbestos.CompensationBased on skills and years of experience.Company DescriptionBurke’s is an equal opportunity employer and leading provider of fire, water and catastrophe restoration services in the greater GTA and beyond.
