About BICR: Providing rehabilitation and support services to individuals, families and caregivers throughout Niagara who are living with the effects of an acquired brain injury. In return, we provide a positive workplace focused on continuous learning and development, professional challenges, and open communication.Hours of Work: 32-40 hours/week, overnight awake shiftsLocation: Niagara FallsReports to: Program ManagerStart Date: As soon as possibleReporting to the Program Manager, the Overnight Awake Rehabilitation Counsellor is accountable for the on-going assessment, individual program implementation, and review of clients involved with the agency’s programs.Specific Accountabilities: ·Support participants in gaining their identified goals by assisting them with personal hygiene skills, transfers, household management skills, and activities of daily living.·Assist with the assessment and evaluation of the participant ‘s ISP by identifying change in behaviour, routine, or progress to the Case Facilitator using agency forms and format.·Provide support to participants during night routine including toileting participants, preparing morning meals, and supporting participants as needed through the night.·Promote the rights of persons with an acquired brain injury by facilitating independence and empowerment and enhancing quality of life.·Responsible and accountable for meeting shift expectations and tasks as assigned within a program, job site or specific to any given participant.·Communicate effectively between participants and staff via, counsellor notes, work binders, observation sheets, staff messages, voice mail, e-mail, documentation, and attendance at team meetings.·Inform manager of any program change or crisis situation, completing necessary Incident/Accident forms prior to shift end.·Ensure that the agency facilities are properly maintained at all times by completing household tasks as assigned and identifying malfunctioning equipment.·Ensure that the agency-sponsored facilities are secure at all times by responding to emergencies according to the agency Emergency Response policy/plan.·Awareness of the location of participants at all times during shift, ensuring medication and related supplies are properly stored, administered and accounted for through accurate documentation, and ensuring that the facility’s locks, latches and other security devices are working properly.·Complete required overnight program forms and checklists to ensure continuity of service and safety of participants.Knowledge & Skill Requirements: · Preference of one (1) year of work experience in social services and experience with implementing individual support plans.·Computer literate and effective working skills with Agency software.·High degree of resourcefulness, problem solving abilities, accountability and dependability.·Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.·Must be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties of the position and develop an excellent rapport with participants and co-workers.·BICR mandatory training current including CPR/SFA·Proof of all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by CanadaWorking Conditions: Working as a team and independently within residential setting; may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions etc…; exposure to the threat of physical or verbal abuse; direct and personal responsibility for the care, welfare and safety of the individuals we support; direct intervention in crisis and emergency situations.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $18.38-$19.00 per hourBenefits:
