Job Description

Located in the heart of the Niagara Region – just minutes from one of the world’s most well-known tourism destinations – Niagara College offers more than 130 innovative programs between our campuses in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Since opening its doors in 1967, Niagara College has grown to become a leader in education and training and one of the most enterprising colleges in Canada.Applications are invited for the temporary position of Access & Inclusion Supervisor in the Marketing and Student Recruitment Department, located at the Welland Campus for 35 hours per week. This is a temporary replacement position and is set to commence in August 2022 and conclude in August 2023. It may be subject to an extension by mutual agreement of the parties.Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Recruitment, the successful candidate will help develop plans based on approved funded projects, ensure operational resources are identified and oversee operations with assigned projects to ensure the project outcomes are met. The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day effectiveness of Recruitment strategies within the project parameters. This includes collaborating with current Recruitment staff to leverage their efforts to determine if any prospective students would benefit from funded services.The incumbent is a critical member of the team, securing and overseeing multiple funded projects throughout the year. Many of these projects include outreach community engagement to address barriers with various populations who would otherwise not pursue post secondary training. This includes developing programs to work with prospective students in targeted geographic areas where residents face challenging socio-economic obstacles and challenges. Population attributes include self identified indigenous, first generation and newcomer populations, among others.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans and executes a series of projects, participation levels and provides progress reports
  • Designs, coordinates and executes integrated targeted recruitment strategies focussed on targeted populations
  • Monitors and adjusts the operational project budgets
  • Oversees the project activity and ensures the collection of data and follow-up of services is in place
  • Ensures that a warm handoff referral process is in place to other departments to support student success
  • Planning activities and engagement of internal departments to support targeted outreach activity
  • Maintains and expands customer base by building and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders and identifying new customer opportunities
  • Assists in the supervision and mentoring of any staff assigned to projects
Qualifications:
  • Three (3) year diploma in Business related program such as Sales/Marketing or similar field of study.
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in a marketing and/or relationship marketing capacity.
  • Experience working with a Customer Relationship Management system will be seen as an asset.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of community supports and agencies within Niagara and southwestern Ontario
  • A strong understanding around the challenges facing newcomer and indigenous populations will be seen as an asset
  • Exceptional planning and coordinating skills
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to manage priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication, and analytical skills
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends when needed
  • A valid license and clean driving record and the ability to travel for work purposes
