Job Description

Located in the heart of the Niagara Region – just minutes from one of the world’s most well-known tourism destinations – Niagara College offers more than 130 innovative programs between our campuses in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Since opening its doors in 1967, Niagara College has grown to become a leader in education and training and one of the most enterprising colleges in Canada.Applications are invited for the part-time position of Events Assistant in the Development & Alumni Relations Department, located at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus. The starting salary is $24.39/hr for a 24-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary. This is a temporary position and is set to commence February 2023 to June 2023.The Development and Alumni Relations department is responsible for building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with prospective supporters, donors, and alumni. The department raises money for equipment and learning resources, scholarships, bursaries, applied research and new facilities. The successful candidate will support the College’s two signature fundraising events, donor, and alumni engagement experiences, and various convocation activities.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Development and Alumni Relations team with the NC Gala
  • Provide leadership in contacting and securing auction items for the NC Gala
  • Tracking and data entry of all silent auction packages and all other related tasks, as well as the sponsor benefits provided
  • Provide leadership for the recruitment, training, and management of event volunteers
  • Assist with building relationships with alumni and donors
  • Create, update print materials for events
  • Create and oversee all work back schedules, meeting agendas, and cross-departmental staff coordination for all projects and events
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Two (2) year post-secondary diploma in fundraising, events management, business, communications, or similar field of study
  • Post graduate diploma in event management is considered an asset
  • Experience working with a charity or not-for-profit organization and assisting with event planning
  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and yet within a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects, manage competing priorities and multi-task
  • Proficient with MS office applications
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge is considered an asset
