Job Description

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVEEIGHT (8) MONTH CONTRACT POSITIONNiagara Peninsula Energy Inc. is seeking an individual to join our team in the position of Customer Service Representative. Reporting directly to the Customer Service Supervisor, the Customer Service Representative acts as a liaison by providing information to customers, along with resolving any customer issues or concerns with accuracy and efficiency, in order to achieve customer satisfaction. The incumbent performs administrative and customer service duties, collection duties, including disconnection and reconnection, and all other duties assigned relating to Customer Service. The incumbent provides accurate, up to date and complete electric related information to customers and handles emergency and non-emergency calls.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides customer service, on the telephone, through email, mail, fax, or online, to assist with payment arrangements, moves, high bills, service requests, retailer inquiries, balance inquiries, billing issues, payment issues, rate inquiries, e-bill set up, hot water heaters, power outages, pre-authorized payment and equal payment plans, and any other account inquiries. Escalates complex issues or concerns to the supervisor, as necessary.
  • Coordinates and processes customer account activities to include setup, finalization, transfers, refunds, collection of account, disconnection and reconnection of service and miscellaneous trouble calls in accordance with established company policies.
  • Ensures all documentation is accurate and complete to process overdue final bills for collection to a third party collection agency.
  • Reviews, adjusts, documents, and verifies customer accounts to assist in the collection of payments for electricity.
  • Processes service orders, work tickets and relevant documentation to assist with reconnects, disconnects, reminders and final bill reminders.
  • Processes customer correspondence received by email, mail, fax or online, to ensure all issues or concerns are documented within the required Ontario Energy Board’s regulated response time.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience is preferred.
  • Work experience in an electrical utility is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel software applications to produce documents and reports.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail. Ensures work is completed correctly and thoroughly, and keeps accurate records.
  • Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
