An international destination with easy access to its binational U.S. neighbour New York State, Niagara attracts over 14 million visitors annually, as well as a steady stream of new residents and businesses.Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYNiagara Region is looking to hire a team of 5 students to administer an annual Employment Inventory from May to August 2022.This comprehensive inventory will collect data on general business characteristics and employee counts that will serve as an important resource for informing Regional and local municipal policy directions. Employment data collected through this project will help to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current employment landscape within Niagara and play a significant role in supporting decisions related to population and employment growth, infrastructure investment and the monitoring of economic conditions and trends.The students will undertake the collection of employment data through a brief door-to-door survey of businesses. This involves visiting businesses throughout Niagara and conducting in-person interviews with business owners. The students will primarily compile the inventory results on a handheld mobile device, but will also be required to perform other office duties to support the project.Location: Students will report to Niagara Regional Headquarters (1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way) throughout the work week, however, daily travel will be required within the Niagara region. Incumbent must supply own vehicle/reliable method of transportation, and be able to work both outdoors and in an office setting.Hours & Duration of Work: Monday to Friday (days), May to August 2022Job Environment
