Job Description

Applications are invited for the regular position of part-time Fitness Coordinator, in the Athletics & Recreation Division. The starting hourly rate is $25.97/hr for approximately 8-24 hours/week, 8 months per year from September to April. Additional hours may be required at peak times during the year such as start or end of term. The Department of Athletics & Recreation currently operates facilities at Niagara Colleges’ Welland and NOTL campuses.Reporting to the Director, Athletics & Student Engagement, the successful candidate is responsible for coordinating facility scheduling, rental requests, service contracts and equipment maintenance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and delivery of group fitness classes
  • Coordination of experiential learning opportunities, including hiring, scheduling, and evaluation of placement students in programs such as, but not limited to, Fitness and Health Promotion, Exercise Science and Recreation Therapy
  • Overseeing placement students or assisting in the delivery of personal training sessions for persons of all abilities
  • Creation or assisting with delivery of unique programing initiatives
  • Assist with participant encouragement initiatives and promotion of student engagement for the Department of Athletics and Recreation and our programming
  • Work closely with assistant facility coordinators
Qualifications:
  • Two (2) year diploma or equivalent in a related field of study
  • Certified to instruct fitness classes; ideally posses a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer or Exercise Physiologist
  • Possess valid standard First Aid and CPR training
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
