Job Description

Located in the heart of the Niagara Region – just minutes from one of the world’s most well-known tourism destinations – Niagara College offers more than 130 innovative programs between our campuses in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Since opening its doors in 1967, Niagara College has grown to become a leader in education and training and one of the most enterprising colleges in Canada.Applications are invited for the position of Student Experience Coordinator in the Athletics and Student Engagement Division, located at the Welland Campus. The starting salary is $30.56/hr to for a 35-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary, such as evenings and weekends during peak periods. This is a temporary position and is set to commence in October 2022 and will conclude in March 2023.Reporting to the Director, Athletics and Student Engagement, the successful candidate will support student engagement programming at Niagara College with a direct focus, but not limited to addressing the needs of the students in their first year. This position will support experience programming at both the Welland and Niagara on the Lake Campuses.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Researches, plans, develops, implements and evaluates student engagement programming including multiple orientations and on campus student engagement planning
  • Works with staff, students, faculty and community partners on initiatives that contributes to and recognizes students having a positive student experience
  • Ensures collection of data with respect to student needs, participation rates and program satisfaction with a focus on first year students
  • Identifies metrics to assess programming effectiveness and provide for continuous improvement of service delivery
  • Maintains, inputs and tracks participants into the Get Involved – Co-Curricular Record Program data base, providing participants with a point of contact for information
  • Responsible for the design, planning and execution of various Student Life initiatives such as socials events, holiday events and on campus events
  • Provides identified Niagara College staff, faculty and students with information relevant to promoting Student Engagement programming and events offered
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three (3) year diploma/degree in Project Management, Event Management, Business, Social Sciences or similar field of study
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in planning and executing large scale complex events
  • Proven ability to research, develop, plan, implement and evaluate student-oriented programming
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced student focused environment
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience developing and executing marketing/communication strategies and developing web/online communication strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) along with experience using other databases, reporting systems and social media
  • Excellent time management, financial management, communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills
