Job Description

Do you have a passion for resource management protection and creating community awareness If so, consider joining our team in Nipigon and use your strong communication and customer service skills to assist in the implementation of activities related to forestry, wildlife, lands and waters.What can I expect to do in this roleIn this role, you will:

  • conduct surveys, gather and input technical information
  • participate in partnerships and initiatives to provide advice and raise resource management awareness
  • assist in the implementation of field programs
How do I qualifyMandatory requirement:
  • You must have a valid class G drivers licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid drivers licence upon being hired.
  • You possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Pleasure Craft Operators Card.
Field operations:
  • knowledge of field equipment operation to perform field maintenance, adjustments and repair of equipment such as Global Positioning System locators, hand held data loggers, weather stations, vehicles, outboard motors and boats, all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles
  • experience following standards and operating practices for information gathering
Technical knowledge:
  • knowledge of ecological sustainability principles and practices
  • ability to use personal computers/software including word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation, email and internet applications
Communication skills:
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to prepare presentations to promote resource management awareness and education
Analytical skills:
  • proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • demonstrated planning and coordinating skills
