Department InformationSahtu Divisional Education CouncilJob InformationThe Sahtu Divisional Education Council is looking for a positive, dynamic and experienced educational leader to provide regional coordination, services, and support for five community schools.The successful candidate will be responsible to:Provide direct support to school administration, school staff, instructional coaches, and program support teachers using effective research-based strategiesWork with and facilitate school representatives to determine priorities, develop and implement plans and programs that meet the diverse educational needs of studentsDevelop and deliver staff training (in-service) opportunities within the region in consultation with school administrators and staffCoordinate support services for schools, in collaboration with school staff, parents, and partner agencies.Qualifications:Candidates must be in possession of a Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized university, or equivalentMust be in possession of, or eligible to attain, NWT Teacher CertificationA minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experiencePreference will be provided to candidates with Northern teaching experienceExpertise in staff and program development and implementation are requiredDemonstration of strong educational leadership and collaborative experienceThe successful candidate will be expected to have specialization, training and/or experience in: providing teaching demonstrations and coaching; setting up interventions; and modified and individualized education programsExtensive travel is a requiredThis position is indeterminate and works from the Sahtú Divisional Education Council office in Norman Wells, NT.This position serves staff and students in the five Sahtu community schools in the Mackenzie Valley: Deline, Tulita, Norman Wells, Fort Good Hope, and Colville Lake. Located on the great Mackenzie River, in the center of the Northwest Territories, Norman Wells is nestled between the Franklin and Mackenzie Mountain ranges.
