Court Administrative Assistant - Provincial Court - ADM020717Employment Type: Permanent Part-timeLocation(s): SK-North West-North BattlefordMinistry: 003 JusticeSalary Range: $22.323-$27.975 HourlyGrade: SGEU.05.The Ministry of Justice is responsible for providing a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government. The Court Services Branch is seeking a skilled, ethical, confident individual to work at North Battleford Provincial Court to provide comprehensive clerical support.As a member of a team of professionals you will be in daily contact with the public, lawyers, police agencies, community agencies and offenders. You will handle walk-in and telephone inquiries regarding court dockets and dispositions, status of accounts, explaining applicable policies and procedures, acts and regulations. You will also receive payments in accordance with court orders and perform basic accounting duties. You will also provide guidance to individuals seeking to file claims in the civil division and general applications within the jurisdiction of Provincial Court.Your responsibilities will consist of data entry and retrieval using the Criminal Justice Information Management System (CJIMS), preparing and formatting court documents in accordance with court orders and applicable legislation using the CJIMS system or word processing software.You may be required to cover some court sittings in your home location. This may include travel to Circuit points. In addition to preparing for court, you will perform duties as Chief Court Official and assist the Provincial Court Judge while court is in session. These duties will include writing down the relevant appearance details and the disposition of each matter before the court as well as operating the digital recording sound system and closed circuit television equipment. You will prepare and certify court documents to reflect the order of the court and explain the contents and implications of non-compliance to offenders in accordance with relevant legislation. You will also prepare and forward relevant material when transcripts are requested of recorded court proceedings.You will be required to climb ladders to retrieve files and carry heavy boxes up to 20 kg that contain files and documents.The successful candidate will have knowledge of legal terminology, the administration of legal documents and an understanding of the various levels of court, court processes and procedures; general office and administrative practices and procedures including handling of cash, filing systems and mail processing; computer applications, including word processing, databases and spreadsheets.Our candidate of choice will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be thorough, analytical, accurate and detail oriented.
