Crops Extension Specialist - AGR000773Employment Type: Permanent Full-timeLocation(s): SK-North West-North BattlefordMinistry: 001 AgricultureSalary Range: $37.432-$46.906 HourlyGrade: SGEU.11.The Ministry of Agriculture has a challenging opportunity for a highly-motivated, dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills to join their regional services team. As a Crops Extension Specialist, you will work with farmers, producer groups and industry to expand the farm level margins obtained through crop production.You will develop and deliver extension programs and provide producers and industry with expert advice on a wide range of crop production issues. You will work with applied research and demonstration projects to increase the adoption of new agricultural technologies and practices relevant to the crops sector.The successful candidates will have in-depth knowledge of crop, soil and pest management relevant to crop production in Saskatchewan. You will have the ability to plan, organize, develop and facilitate meetings, seminars, conferences and demonstrations as well as effectively interpret and communicate information related to crop management to a variety of audiences.Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a Master of Science in Agriculture or a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in agronomy or plant science combined with extensive experience in crop production, extension and agri-business.Applicants must be registered or need to become registered with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists as defined by The Agrologists Act.The successful candidate must be a team player, able to both lead and collaborate, with a reputation for integrity and a focus on service excellence and innovation in their work.
