Typically, successful candidates will work an average of 32 - 35 hours/week (Monday to Friday) dependent season and business requirements.This is examination work involving assessing applicants for drivers' licences in accordance with standards established with respect to knowledge, vision, driving and physical capabilities. This includes testing applicants for all classes of drivers' licences (i.e., Class 1 to Class 7) and endorsements (air brake, school bus and motorcycle). Work is performed according to general direction where discretion and judgment are exercised. Work is performed at large examination centres, small examination centres, or from mobile units. General supervision is received from a District Examiner.TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESNot all inclusive or applicable to all assignmentsAdministers and conducts written and oral examinations and vision and road tests for Class 1 (any tractor-trailer or truck trailer combination ), Class 2 (any bus), Class 3 (three-axle vehicles), Class 4 (buses with seating capacity of 24 or fewer passengers, taxi or emergency response vehicles), Class 5 (2-axle passenger vehicles) and endorsements (air brake, school bus and motorcycle).Evaluates test results and counsels applicants on corrective measures.Answers public inquiries regarding driver licencing and interpretation of various related provincial and federal statutes.Conducts investigations and interviews in connection with various programs such as the Driver Improvement Program, Graduated Driver’s Licence, and Fraud ID.Assists in the delivery of programs related to driver education, training, and improvement (i.e., Traffic Safety Education).Conducts visual inspections of vehicles used for testing for signs of safety issues.Observes applicants for signs and symptoms which would indicate that a medical examination is required before a licence is issued.Answers routine inquiries and provides information to issuers, the public and employees relating to corporate programs or initiatives (in positions where required).Determines class or permit type, calculates applicable fees and refunds, and corrects motor vehicle licencing products including, but not limited to, registrations, drivers' licences, permits and vehicle impoundments (in positions where required).Performs vehicle registrations, issues permits, temporary insurance cards, assigns PIC #, renews driver licences and other types of Auto Fund transactions for customers (in positions where required).Processes motor vehicle licencing products including, but not limited to, registrations, licences, permits, vehicle impoundments and other related documents in accordance with established procedures and schedules, using manuals and automated systems (in positions where required).Negotiates repayment of receivables owed by customers to the Auto Fund Division (in positions where required).Knowledge and SkillKnowledge of the skills and abilities required of drivers to qualify for each class and endorsement of drivers' licences.Knowledge of written and oral examinations, and sign, vision, and road tests for all classes of drivers’ licences.Knowledge of the evaluation of driver test results.Knowledge of driver education and driver improvement and control programs.Knowledge of the Driver Licencing and Driver Training Regulations of the Traffic Safety Act.Education and ExperienceClass 4 licence or higher.Required to obtain licence for all classes and endorsements.Five years of Class 5 Canadian driving experience with at least two years of post-Graduated Driver's Licensing (GDL) program driving experience.Applicant is required to enroll in the CIP course as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Satisfactory job performance.The behavioural competencies required for this role are:Planning & Organizing – Working LevelOral Communication – Significant LevelWritten Communication – Working LevelInterpersonal Contacts/Customer Service – Considerable LevelComplexity – Moderate LevelPay Range:$25.60 - $32.01Posting Close Date:May 30, 2021As you prepare to submit your application, and cover letter if applicable, please highlight the achievements that demonstrate why you're a great candidate for this role.
